Fishing License Info

Since Toledo Bend Reservoir is shared by both Louisiana and Texas, both states honor each other’s fishing license for fish caught on either side of the lake. A Louisiana basic fishing license can be purchased either online or in a local sporting goods retailer. The fee from LDWF is $9.50 for residents and $60 for non-residents (there are special fees for seniors or active duty military members stationed in the state of Louisiana, see the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries website for details). Louisiana fishing licenses expire on June 30 every year. A Texas freshwater fishing license can be purchased either online or in a local sporting goods retailer. The fee from TPWD is $30 for residents and $58 for non-residents (there are special fees for seniors, and active duty military members stationed in Texas. See the Texas Parks and Wildlife website for details). Texas fishing licenses expire on August 31 every year. Texas also offers a single day license for both residents and non-residents, which is a great option for anglers who are not a resident of either Louisiana or Texas. A resident one day license is $11, a non-resident one day license is $16. See the Texas Parks and Wildlife website for details.

Remember, if you don’t have a valid license, you can’t “Hook ’em Up!”
